In April 2011, Australias eleven Industry Skills Councils (ISCS) released a joint report No More Excuses: An Industry Response to the LLN Challenge claiming that insufficient LLN levels are held by millions of Australian workers. The report recommends the building of LLN skills be a shared responsibility and proposes that the Council of Australian Governments should establish an overarching national blueprint for action on LLN in Australia 2012-2022. The May/June Policy in the Pub forums will examine the ISC report in closer detail, in particular, its key recommendations and solutions for achieving improved LLN skills. Key questions to be explored include: Why are Australias LLN skills so low? Do the ISCs proposals stack up? What policy directions are needed to tackle these issues of national concern?

The annual National Vocational Education and Training (VET) Research Conference, No Frills, is considered one of the best value events on the VET research calendar. The conference aims to bring together those involved or interested in education and training research from TAFE institutes, universities, private registered training organisations as well as consultants. It will provide an excellent opportunity for those new to and established in the VET sector to showcase their research in an informal and relaxed environment. This years conference is in partnership with North Coast TAFE. Colloquially known as the No Frills conference because it does not attract a registration fee or some of the frills of a regular national conference, the annual NCVER conference has a collegiate atmosphere, which encourages lively exchanges about VET and a great opportunity to network.

This eLearning courseware development tool is therefore ideally suited to be used with existing hard-copy learning/training materials. In many cases your existing materials have already been designed with careful consideration for the anticipated learning/training outcomes. Following participation in this interactive workshop you should be able to: develop good quality eLearning content, organise your existing learning resources and know how to translate them into digital media files. This interactive workshop is therefore intended for non-technical trainers wishing to develop quality online training courses by reusing a template architecture as your instructional framework.</dc:description>
